About David Carrales…

David Carrales received a camera at age 17 and thought it was the worst Christmas gift ever. Little did he know where the camera would take him as a visual artist in pursuit of documenting beauty.

After years shooting as a hobbyist, David turned professional in when he was approached with a project shooting corporate headshots. The project paid for equipment upgrades (camera and lighting) and provided invaluable experience photographing individuals. By summer 2015, David Carrales Photography was launched.

Beginning in 2015, David started volunteering his photography skills with several local organizations: Helping Hand Home, The Arc of the Capital Area, and Imagine Art. He shot with the Texas Rollergirls from 2017 to the pandemic of 2020. He also shot the Tattooed Gloves Charity Boxing Event since its inception in 2015 through 2020, which led to photographing many a boxing event in town.

In the fall of 2020, David joined the AmeriCorps program at Imagine Art as an artist-in-residence, joining the Exhibit Team. For two years, David curated and installed artwork on behalf of Imagine Art artists and his fellow AmeriCorps members around town. Visit the Imagine Art virtual gallery to see his work from spring 2021-summer 2022.

David currently resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife Nancy, and their two cats, Baby Gio and Agostino, eagerly awaiting another World Series featuring the Chicago Cubs.
